15 Sleeps To Go…It’s all About Me…

In a burst of nostalgia this morning, I have been trawling through some old photos (some pre-digital and painstakingly scanned to capture their posterity forever)…and found some rather cracking pics that I didn’t know about.  (How do mothers do that?  Do they sneak around with camera in hand ready to catch every moment?….I can hear mother’s reading this everywhere shouting a resounding “YES!” right now)

Given the looming of The Big Birthday – Plus 1 in 15 sleeps (yes, only 15 peeps!), I thought I’d share some of the most defining of these pictorial moments with you.  Yes these pictures of my formative years go a long way towards explaining the following:

1. My fixation with line-dried washing (it just smells and feels so good!)…
2.  My passion for bears (Mum has A LOT to answer for here!)…
3. My obsession with food…
4.  My need to help (for those that don’t know, this is me helping Opa roll the gravel driveway…and is one of my fave pics of the two of us)…

and 5. My love of birthdays!

Oh and did I mention there were only 15 sleeps until my birthday…that’s more cake and candles for me…Wheeee!

ps…speaking of birthdays, my itinerant old man (his words, not mine!) and erstwhile wifely companion, Bev, win this year’s Birthday Derby with their card arriving last Wednesday 14th July…that’s pretty impressive planning guys…

Games People Play…

I have always been amazed at the number of games on Facebook and the number of invitations I get to indulge in Mafia Wars on Treasure Isle or join the Farmville Sorority.  I have also been quite selective – choosing only 1 or 2 to indulge in – and loyal – when everyone shipped off to Farmville I stayed resolutely with Lil Farm Life and just dipped into my Lil Green Patch every now and then.

But this weekend I’ve been suckered into 2 new worlds – Social City and Cafe World – and I’m hooked…

…and it’s those two sisters of mine that have done it!  They just looked like they were having so much fun so I surrendered to their call…and now I find myself wondering how many cheeseburgers I’ve served and whether I can afford to complete the rest of my Cafe refurb. or assessing whether I have enough leisure activities for all my little Social City peeps to do.
As if I didn’t have enough to do!

What’s that?  Grubs up…oh best get back to the kitchen…

A Good Sort…

What is it about a glimmer of Spring-like weather that makes us want to sort…and not just have a little clean out but to sort obsessively, without forethought or preparation.

Spring is start to…well spring here in the UK and I have found myself in the midst of a sorting frenzy.  Everywhere I look there seems to be something to sort – shoes, clothes, books, papers, recipes, filing, kitchen cupboards, plants, projects – and I can be meandering through the day completely on schedule only to be subsumed into an ‘I’ve had enough/I need to sort this now’ fugue from which I emerge with a flush of virtuous ‘sorted’ satisfaction…only to be followed by an ‘oops that took longer than I thought and now I really need to crack on and do the things I was actually planning to do’ feeling of slightly, mild-ish panic.

Does this actually happen to anyone else (apart from me & J…he’s a sorter too but not a thrower-outer…which explains why we still live next door to each other!)

Do you think that there is a completely rational, scientific explanation for this seasonal bout of obsessiveness?  Or am I just Monica-Geller bonkers?

Maybe an intervention is in order….
